HOW TO SPEND A DAY IN BRUSSELS

I’ve been to Brussels various times, but all of them were actually for not more than a day! Living in London, I even once just went for the day with the Eurostar and that was the day I did the most sightseeing. Visiting Brussels is not only about sightseeing but a bit of more about the food and drink. So make sure you eat nothing the day before, and I’m being serious. Anyways, these are the things you should during your day visit to Brussels.

1. Say hi to the Manneken Pis

The icon of Brussels, “Manneken Pis” literally means “little man who pees”. And it is literally that: a 65.5cm bronce statue of a little man that is peeing. It is meant to symbolize the free spirit of Belgians. It is quite cute, and even cuter when it is dressed up in costumes, which is done quite frequently!

A feminine version of the Manneken Pis, the Jeanneke Pis was created hundreds of years later so as to represent the free spirit of Belgian women as well. It is right besides the Delirium Cafe which I mention later in the article.

BORDEAUX: A weekend of wine tasting

wine tasting

Pablo and I decided to go wine tasting during a long weekend to France. Bordeaux is the world’s major wine industry capital. And it’s absolutely crazy! It has has about 116,160 hectares of vineyards, 57 appellations (try to learn what this is before going) and not less than 10,000 wine-producing châteaux. That is crazy. Isn’t it?

Bordeaux produces 960 million bottles per year approximately. A lot of is regular, table or everyday wine, but also some of the most expensive wines in the world are produced here in Bordeaux.

When planning the trip, we faced the difficult task of choosing amongst thousands of chateaux. Oh mon dieu! But after some research, we ended up deciding on three. They were all good in their own way.

MUNICH BUCKET LIST

If you’ve been to Berlin, Munich will surprise you! They are literally day and night. Munich is posh, clean and “golden”. I say “golden” because all buildings are kind of cream colored with golden details and to me that makes the city look fancy. I would say Berlin is very alternative while Munich is very traditional.

Munich is also in Bavaria and is the home of Oktoberfest, hence beer is a HUGE thing there. Munich in summer is one my favourite European experiences, so if you can chose to go in June or July, you are guaranteed to have a nice time. Now – let’s see what Munich has to offer. Here’s your bucket list!
